The cognitive therapy model developed by Prof. Aaron T. Beck contains several core assumptions regarding how our thoughts are linked to our emotions:
- Our emotions at any given point in time are largely determined by our active cognitions (thoughts and imagery);
- The „lenses“ through which we view ourselves, the world, and the future largely determine how we think, feel, and act;
- Changing our perceptions (i.e., changing the way think) significantly changes the way we feel about ourselves as well as the way we act, interact, and react to the world around us.
